Getting back in the swing
As I said in my last blog Magic City Motoring was moving the world headquarters and it has taken a bit more time than expected to complete. This has caused a slight delay in our updates. Well that and the rain, the tremendous amounts of rain that have dampened almost every car event this month. we have much planned to keep the blog fresh through the winter down time but, with the move causing this content to packed up and the desktop disassembled there was nothing that could be done.
Now that the excuses are over I did make it to a rare private invite car event today. The event held at the Birmingham Race Course was a wonderful midweek AutoCross for a select local company. The goal was to show their employees the ins and outs of car control. They were very successful from what I saw. But to this author it was the first time I have AutoCrossed in almost 15 years (and that only time wasn't even a full day). I did three runs in a car supplied by the event sponsors consisting of a ride along, a DNF (missed a gate, could have got it but would have taken out 20 or so cones), and a clean run of 64.20. So has the bug bitten? We will soon find out.
Stay tuned we hope to make either the Petit LeMans or the Fultondale show this weekend.

A rainy Saturday in Alabama
Like we said in our earlier post, magiccitymotoring.org has been busy with our move, but we are top of the car show scene and have attempted to make two shows so far this rainy Saturday. We hit the Starbucks bright and early at 8:30 to see which members of MOB Inc. were going to brave the weather. Well no one
showed, I guess Starbucks was the only place it was not raining in the Birmingham area. So we raced off to the next event the SCCA/Historics in the Park at Barber Motorsports. Even with a steady rain about 20 brave souls made it to Barber in the collector cars including a very courageous man in his 1961 Ferrari 250 GTE. arrangements had been made for persons with a Barber tag to be able to do a track lap over the lunch hour and with the rain turn out was surprisingly large so roughly 30-40 cars took to the
track to run a total of 3 full wet laps. (We were tucked in behind an experienced driver from the PCA and were taking notes.) Overall it wasn't a bad day with the previously mentioned Ferrari taking Best in Show and winning in addition to the glass trophy 2 3 day passes to next April's Alabama Grand Prix.

Happenings @ MagicCityMotoring Including new Photo Gallery
We are still around at MagicCityMotoring.org. We have been a little busy as of late. We are relocating our "world headquarters" and you know how moving can be. The camera keeps being left at he other "office" so the latest photos from Saturday's MOB Inc. lunch have yet to be posted along with the blog about that event.
This coming weekend is fairly busy and even with the move look for MagicCityMotoring.org at the Krispy Kreme Cruise-In in the morning, we will make a quick appearance at Barber's for Historics in the Park and the SCCA regional (mostly for the track lap promotion), and hope to cap off the day in Alabaster.
The biggest news is our new Photo gallery. This gallery is being shared with our partner site www.thegreasegirl.com. We plan on uploading most of the photos we take at events we attend for your viewing pleasure. The most exciting part is that if we happen to take a great photo that you may wish to own all photos are available for purchase in many sizes and styles, including t-shirts and wall clings.
